About

Vida Mirk is a slow production project, born out of the artists increasing desire to discover new forms of self-expression and new ways of consuming art. The artist creates one-of-a-kind and innovative handmade work, with a focus on hand-carved bespoke pieces. More specifically, rings.

Influences are drawn from various sources; our ecology, stemmed from Vida's academic background; contemporary and sculptural arts inspired by artists in her family, her heritage and historical and traditional Balkan jewelry.

Artist statement

Vida has a special affinity for rings, her favourite form of jewelry to create. She believes that being able to look down at the piece one is wearing creates a special connection and effect on the wearer. She hopes to ignite those feelings in the wearers of her work.

With her work, she aspires to spark in others the same curiosity for self-expression that threw her into the world of contemporary jewelry and wearable art.

She hopes to introduce or contribute to people's personal connection to jewelry through the miniaturization of sculptural and contemporary designs, making each piece a personal piece of art for one to carry around with them.

Her work varies from everyday staples to statement pieces and is designed with the intention of being seen as genderless jewelry art.

Pieces are cast in precious metals such as sterling silver, gold, brass and bronze. Other pieces are made from various non-metal materials such as clays, wood, and stone.
